Take these eight policy discounts and save

Some providers don’t always advertise their entire list of discounts very clearly, so the following list contains both well-publicized as well as some of the hidden ways to save on insurance coverage.

  • New Car Discount – Buying a new car model can get you a discount since new vehicles are generally safer.
  • Discounts for Safe Drivers – Drivers who don’t get into accidents may receive a discount up to 45% on M5 insurance as compared to drivers with claims.
  • Federal Government Employee – Active or retired federal employment could provide a small rate reduction on M5 insurance with select insurance companies.
  • Service Members Pay Less – Having a deployed family member could qualify you for better prices.
  • Drivers Ed for Students – Require your teen driver to complete a driver education course if offered at their school.
  • Theft Deterent Discount – Cars and trucks with anti-theft systems have a lower chance of being stolen so companies will give you a small discount.
  • Paper-free Discount – Certain insurance companies will give a small break for signing up digitally online.
  • Multiple Vehicles – Purchasing coverage when you have several vehicles on a single policy can get a discount on all vehicles.

As a disclaimer on discounts, some of the credits will not apply the the whole policy. Some only reduce individual premiums such as liability and collision coverage. Just because you may think having all the discounts means you get insurance for free, insurance companies wouldn’t stay in business. Any amount of discount will definitely reduce the cost of coverage.

Which policy gives me the best coverage?

When buying coverage, there really is not a perfect coverage plan. Everyone’s situation is a little different.

Here are some questions about coverages that can aid in determining if your insurance needs will benefit from professional help.

  • Am I covered if hit by an uninsured driver?
  • Do I need more liability coverage?
  • Will my insurance pay for OEM parts?
  • What exactly is covered by my policy?
  • Does my car insurance cover rental cars?
  • Are all vehicle passengers covered by medical payments coverage?
  • Why am I required to buy liability insurance?

If you don’t know the answers to these questions but one or more may apply to you, you may need to chat with an insurance agent. To find an agent in your area, fill out this quick form. It is quick, free and you can get the answers you need.

Car insurance coverage information

Understanding the coverages of your policy helps when choosing appropriate coverage at the best deductibles and correct limits. The terms used in a policy can be impossible to understand and coverage can change by endorsement.

Liability coverage – Liability coverage protects you from injuries or damage you cause to people or other property by causing an accident. It protects YOU from claims by other people. It does not cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.

It consists of three limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. As an example, you may have values of 100/300/100 which means $100,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a total of $300,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and property damage coverage for $100,000.

Liability insurance covers things such as bail bonds, repair bills for other people’s vehicles, attorney fees and medical expenses. How much liability coverage do you need? That is a personal decision, but you should buy as high a limit as you can afford.

UM/UIM Coverage – This gives you protection from other motorists when they either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. Covered losses include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.

Since a lot of drivers carry very low liability coverage limits, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage should not be overlooked.

Collision coverages – This pays for damage to your M5 caused by collision with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. You first must pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.

Collision coverage protects against claims such as hitting a mailbox, sideswiping another vehicle, colliding with a tree, sustaining damage from a pot hole and crashing into a ditch. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so consider dropping it from lower value vehicles. Another option is to choose a higher deductible to save money on collision insurance.

Medical costs insurance – Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage reimburse you for expenses for ambulance fees, dental work, hospital visits, doctor visits and EMT expenses. They can be used to fill the gap from your health insurance policy or if you do not have health coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover you and your occupants and will also cover being hit by a car walking across the street. Personal Injury Protection is not available in all states but can be used in place of medical payments coverage

Comprehensive or Other Than Collision – This coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You need to pay your deductible first then your comprehensive coverage will pay.

Comprehensive coverage protects against things such as hail damage, a tree branch falling on your vehicle, hitting a deer, vandalism and falling objects. The most a insurance company will pay at claim time is the ACV or actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value consider dropping full coverage.

Knowledge is power

Discount 2015 BMW M5 insurance is possible on the web and from local agencies, and you should compare price quotes from both to have the best chance of lowering rates. Some insurance companies may not provide the ability to get a quote online and many times these regional carriers only sell through local independent agents.

Insureds leave their current company for a variety of reasons including delays in responding to claim requests, poor customer service, high rates after DUI convictions or even policy cancellation. Regardless of your reason for switching companies, switching insurance companies is pretty simple and you could end up saving a buck or two.

We covered a lot of techniques to lower your 2015 BMW M5 insurance prices. The most important thing to understand is the more you quote car insurance, the more likely it is that you will get a better rate. Drivers may discover the best prices are with an unexpected company.
