Looking for lower auto insurance rates for your Acura TSX Sport Wagon? Feeling guilty for buying an expensive auto insurance policy? It’s a common feeling and there are many people just like you.

Multiple car insurance companies compete for your insurance dollar, so it’s not easy to compare every insurance company to find the absolute cheapest price

Auto insurance discounts are available to cut your rates

Car insurance companies do not advertise all disounts in a way that’s easy to find, so the list below gives a summary of some of the more common and the harder-to-find credits that you can use to lower your rates.

  • More Vehicles More Savings – Buying insurance for multiple cars or trucks with the same auto insurance company can get a discount for every vehicle.
  • One Accident Forgiven – This isn’t a discount exactly, but certain companies allow you one accident before your rates go up with the catch being you have to be claim-free prior to the accident.
  • Distant College Student Discount – Older children who are enrolled in a college that is more than 100 miles from home and do not have a car can receive lower rates.
  • Sign Early and Save – Some auto insurance companies provide a discount for switching companies before your current expiration date. The savings is around 10%.
  • Defensive Driver Discounts – Successfully completing a course that instructs on driving safety could cut 5% off your bill if your company offers it.

Please keep in mind that most discount credits are not given the the whole policy. Most cut individual premiums such as liability and collision coverage. Just because you may think you could get a free auto insurance policy, that’s just not realistic.

A few of the larger companies and a selection of discounts are shown below.

  • State Farm offers discounts for passive restraint, anti-theft, good driver, multiple policy, accident-free, Drive Safe & Save, and good student.
  • GEICO offers premium reductions for multi-policy, seat belt use, good student, federal employee, defensive driver, daytime running lights, and emergency military deployment.
  • Progressive has discounts for online signing, online quote discount, homeowner, good student, and multi-policy.
  • 21st Century offers discounts including early bird, theft prevention, good student, homeowners, driver training, anti-lock brakes, and teen driver.
  • American Family includes discounts for air bags, early bird, bundled insurance, good student, mySafetyValet, and good driver.
  • The Hartford may include discounts for good student, defensive driver, air bag, anti-theft, driver training, vehicle fuel type, and bundle.
  • AAA discounts include multi-car, multi-policy, AAA membership discount, good driver, and pay-in-full.

When getting a coverage quote, ask every insurance company which discounts you qualify for. Some of the earlier mentioned discounts may not apply everywhere. If you would like to view auto insurance companies that can offer you the previously mentioned discounts, click here.

Everyone needs different insurance coverage coverages

When buying adequate coverage for your personal vehicles, there really is no perfect coverage plan. Everyone’s situation is unique and a cookie cutter policy won’t apply. For example, these questions may help highlight whether your personal situation may require specific advice.

  • When should I remove comp and collision on my 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon?
  • Does my car insurance cover rental cars?
  • Do I need an umbrella policy?
  • When should my teen driver be added to my policy?
  • Can I afford low physical damage deductibles?
  • Will my insurance pay for OEM parts?
  • What is high-risk coverage and where do I buy it?

If you’re not sure about those questions but you think they might apply to your situation, you may need to chat with an agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, simply complete this short form or click here for a list of insurance coverage companies in your area.

Specific coverages for an Acura TSX Sport Wagon

Understanding the coverages of your policy helps when choosing which coverages you need and proper limits and deductibles. Insurance terms can be difficult to understand and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording. Listed below are typical coverages available from insurance companies.

Uninsured and underinsured coverage – This coverage protects you and your vehicle’s occupants when the “other guys” are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. Covered claims include medical payments for you and your occupants and also any damage incurred to your Acura TSX Sport Wagon.

Because many people have only the minimum liability required by law, their limits can quickly be used up. So UM/UIM coverage is very important.

Coverage for medical payments – Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage pay for short-term medical expenses like pain medications, prosthetic devices, hospital visits and ambulance fees. The coverages can be used in conjunction with a health insurance plan or if you lack health insurance entirely. Coverage applies to you and your occupants in addition to being hit by a car walking across the street. PIP coverage is not an option in every state but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage

Liability car insurance – Liability coverage will cover injuries or damage you cause to other’s property or people that is your fault. It protects YOU from legal claims by others. Liability doesn’t cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.

Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. As an example, you may have liability limits of 100/300/100 which stand for a limit of $100,000 per injured person, a total of $300,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and a total limit of $100,000 for damage to vehicles and property.

Liability coverage protects against claims such as bail bonds, pain and suffering, legal defense fees and funeral expenses. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is a personal decision, but you should buy higher limits if possible.

Collision coverage – Collision insurance will pay to fix damage to your TSX Sport Wagon resulting from a collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. A deductible applies then your collision coverage will kick in.

Collision coverage pays for things like crashing into a building, driving through your garage door, hitting a mailbox and damaging your car on a curb. This coverage can be expensive, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are older. You can also choose a higher deductible in order to get cheaper collision rates.

Comprehensive coverages – Comprehensive insurance coverage covers damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You first must pay your deductible and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive can pay for things like rock chips in glass, falling objects, damage from flooding and hail damage. The most you’ll receive from a claim is the actual cash value, so if the vehicle’s value is low it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.

Have money to burn

When trying to cut insurance costs, it’s a bad idea to skimp on critical coverages to save a buck or two. There are a lot of situations where consumers will sacrifice liability limits or collision coverage and learned later that a couple dollars of savings turned into a financial nightmare. Your aim should be to buy the best coverage you can find at an affordable rate, but do not skimp to save money.

We just showed you many ideas to save on 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon insurance. It’s most important to understand that the more rate quotes you have, the higher your chance of finding cheap car insurance. Drivers may discover the biggest savings come from a small local company. These companies can often provide lower prices in certain areas than their larger competitors like Progressive and GEICO.
