Just because you found the lowest price for XJ-Series insurance at your last renewal other companies may now be cheaper. Ignore everything you know about car insurance because you’re going to learn the best way to find lower rates on car insurance.

Buying car insurance is not rocket science. If you currently have car insurance, you stand a good chance to be able to reduce your rates substantially using these techniques. Nevertheless, car owners do need to understand the way companies sell insurance online because it can help you find the best coverage.

Which insurance coverage is cheapest?

When looking for affordable auto insurance quotes, there are a couple ways of comparing rates from different companies. One of the best ways to compare rates is simply to get online rate quotes. This is very easy and can be done by using one of the methods below.

  • Probably the best way to get the best comparison quotes is to use a rate comparison form click to view form in new window. This easy form saves time by eliminating repetitive form entry for each price estimate. A single, simple form gets you coverage quotes from many national carriers. This is perfect if you don’t have a lot of time.
  • Another way to compare rate quotes is going to each company website to complete a price quote. For example, we’ll assume you want to view quotes from Liberty Mutual, State Farm and Progressive. You would have to navigate to each company’s site and type in your information over and over, which can take a lot of time.

For a list of companies in your area, click here.

  • The least recommended way to comparison shop is physically going to each insurance agency near you. The ability to get quotes online has reduced the need for local agents unless you want the professional abilities that only an agent can give. It is possible with some companies price shop online but buy from a local insurance agent.

However you get your quotes, ensure you’re using identical deductibles and coverage limits for each price quote. If your comparisons have different data it will be impossible to determine the lowest rate for your Jaguar XJ-Series. Just a small difference in coverages could skew the results. Just keep in mind that comparing more company’s prices helps improve the odds of finding a better price. Not every company does prices over the internet, so it’s important to compare quotes from them as well.

How to lower your insurance prices

Lots of things are considered when you get your auto insurance bill. Some factors are common sense like your driving record, but other factors are less obvious such as whether you are married or your commute time.

The items below are just a few of the factors companies use to determine your rates.

  • Teen drivers pay higher rates – Beginning drivers are statistically proven to get distracted easily when driving so they pay higher auto insurance rates. Parents adding a teenage driver onto a policy can be very expensive. More mature drivers are proven to be safer behind the wheel, tend to file fewer claims .
  • Tickets increase prices – Having a clean driving record influences premium rates substantially. Having a single driving citation may increase your cost to the point where it’s not affordable. Drivers who don’t get tickets get better rates than their less careful counterparts. People who have flagrant violations like DWI, reckless driving or hit and run convictions are required to file a SR-22 to the state department of motor vehicles in order to prevent a license revocation.
  • Increase physical damage deductibles and save – Insurance for physical damage, commonly called comprehensive (or other-than-collision) and collision coverage, covers damage that occurs to your Jaguar. Some examples of claims that would be covered could be a dented fender, damage caused by hail, and burglary. Comp and collision deductibles tell how much you are willing to pay out-of-pocket if a claim is determined to be covered. The more damage repair cost you choose to pay out-of-pocket, the lower your rates will be for XJ-Series insurance.
  • Lower rates for married couples – Getting married may cut your premiums on your auto insurance bill. Having a spouse means you’re less irresponsible and insurance companies like that married drivers get in fewer accidents.
  • Insure car and home with the same company – Some insurance companies allow discounts to people that have more than one policy in the form of a multi-policy discount. Even though this discount sounds good, it’s still a good idea to compare other insurance prices to make sure you are getting the best deal. There is a chance you can find lower rates by splitting coverages up.

Discounts for cheap car insurance rates

Some insurance providers do not advertise all possible discounts in an easy-to-find place, so the list below details some of the best known and also the more inconspicuous credits that may apply to you.

  • Theft Deterent Discount – Cars with anti-theft systems are less likely to be stolen and will save you 10% or more.
  • Drive Less and Save – Driving less could earn discounted premium rates on garaged vehicles.
  • Discounts for Multiple Vehicles – Having several vehicles on a single policy could earn a price break for each car.
  • Multi-policy Discount – When you have multiple policies with one company you could save up to 20% and get you inexpensive auto insurance.
  • Data Collection Discounts – Insureds that choose to allow driving data submission to spy on their driving habits by using a small device installed in their vehicle such as Drivewise from Allstate or Snapshot from Progressive may get a rate reduction if they show good driving skills.

Please keep in mind that most of the big mark downs will not be given to all coverage premiums. Most only cut specific coverage prices like physical damage coverage or medical payments. So even though you would think adding up those discounts means a free policy, company stockholders wouldn’t be very happy. But any discount will definitely lower your policy premium.

Larger car insurance companies and the discounts they provide can be found below.

  • GEICO includes discounts for driver training, defensive driver, five-year accident-free, anti-theft, multi-vehicle, daytime running lights, and multi-policy.
  • MetLife offers discounts including good student, accident-free, multi-policy, good driver, claim-free, and defensive driver.
  • State Farm offers premium reductions for driver’s education, good student, passive restraint, safe vehicle, and defensive driving training.
  • Progressive has savings for continuous coverage, online signing, good student, multi-vehicle, online quote discount, and homeowner.
  • Mercury Insurance may offer discounts for age of vehicle, professional/association, good driver, accident-free, and anti-theft.
  • 21st Century policyholders can earn discounts including homeowners, defensive driver, 55 and older, automatic seat belts, air bags, and student driver.
  • Allstate offers discounts for safe driver, early signing, good payer, EZ pay plan discount, and 55 and retired.

When comparing rates, check with all companies you are considering the best way to save money. Some of the earlier mentioned discounts may not apply to policies in your area. If you would like to view car insurance companies that have a full spectrum of discounts, click here to view.

Tailor your auto insurance coverage to you

When buying coverage for your personal vehicles, there is no “best” method to buy coverage. Each situation is unique.

For example, these questions may help highlight whether or not you would benefit from an agent’s advice.

  • Does insurance cover tools stolen from my truck?
  • Will I be non-renewed for getting a DUI or other conviction?
  • What is high-risk coverage and where do I buy it?
  • Does my 2003 Jaguar XJ-Series qualify for pleasure use?
  • What if I don’t agree with a claim settlement offer?
  • Are rental cars covered under my policy?
  • Is my ex-spouse still covered by my policy?
  • How much liability coverage do I need in my state?
  • Should I buy only the required minimum liability coverage?
  • Can my babysitter drive my car?

If you’re not sure about those questions but one or more may apply to you, then you may want to think about talking to a licensed insurance agent. To find an agent in your area, fill out this quick form.

Car insurance coverages explained

Learning about specific coverages of a car insurance policy aids in choosing the right coverages at the best deductibles and correct limits. Car insurance terms can be confusing and nobody wants to actually read their policy.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM)

Your UM/UIM coverage gives you protection when the “other guys” are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. Covered claims include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants and damage to your Jaguar XJ-Series.

Since a lot of drivers have only the minimum liability required by law, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is a good idea.

Med pay and Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP kick in for short-term medical expenses such as hospital visits, EMT expenses, chiropractic care and X-ray expenses. They are used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance program or if there is no health insurance coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover both the driver and occupants and will also cover being hit by a car walking across the street. PIP coverage is only offered in select states and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay

Comprehensive insurance

This coverage covers damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You first must pay your deductible then the remaining damage will be covered by your comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive can pay for claims such as damage from a tornado or hurricane, hitting a bird and hail damage. The maximum amount you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the ACV or actual cash value, so if the vehicle is not worth much it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

Liability insurance

This coverage can cover damage or injury you incur to other people or property. This insurance protects YOU against other people’s claims. It does not cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.

Coverage consists of three different limits, bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. You commonly see values of 25/50/25 which means $25,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $50,000, and $25,000 of coverage for damaged propery.

Liability coverage pays for things like repair bills for other people’s vehicles, bail bonds and loss of income. How much liability should you purchase? That is a personal decision, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase as much as you can afford.

Collision coverage protection

This coverage will pay to fix damage to your XJ-Series from colliding with an object or car. You first must pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.

Collision coverage protects against claims like backing into a parked car, damaging your car on a curb and scraping a guard rail. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so you might think about dropping it from older vehicles. Another option is to increase the deductible to bring the cost down.

A little work can save a LOT of money

When getting auto insurance quotes online, you should never buy lower coverage limits just to save a few bucks. There have been many situations where an insured dropped comprehensive coverage or liability limits only to regret that it was a big error on their part. The proper strategy is to find the BEST coverage for the lowest price, not the least amount of coverage.

Throughout this article, we presented some good ideas how to get a better price on 2003 Jaguar XJ-Series insurance. The key concept to understand is the more companies you get premium rates for, the higher your chance of finding inexpensive auto insurance. You may be surprised to find that the lowest car insurance rates are with a lesser-known regional company.

The cheapest 2003 Jaguar XJ-Series insurance can be found from both online companies and from local agencies, so you need to quote auto insurance with both in order to have the best price selection to choose from. Some companies do not provide online price quotes and usually these smaller companies only sell coverage through independent insurance agencies.
